endoscopic sphincterotomy

Definition:
Incision of Oddi's sphincter or Vater's ampulla performed by inserting a sphincterotome through an endoscope (duodenoscope) often following retrograde cholangiography (cholangiopancreatography, endoscopic retrograde).
