Definition:
Incompatibilidad reproductiva entre poblaciones alopáticas de la misma especie en la que los huevos fertilizados por esperma de machos infectados con simbionte intracelular rickettsial no llegan a incubar. Este efecto se produce principalmente en insectos y en algunos artrópodos, y el más estudiado y aparentemente más común de estos parásitos reproductivos es la especie Wolbachia.
