Definition:
Research using processes by which the reliability and relevance of a particular procedure, approach, method, or assessment, specifically one in which animal use is replaced, reduced, or refined (see Animal Use Alternatives), is established for a defined purpose. This may include demonstrating reproducibility of the procedure, approach, method, or assessment, as well as its meaningfulness and usefulness for the defined purpose.
