Preferred Term:
skin prick tests
Definition:
A test for sensitivity to allergens. A solution containing a suspected allergy-causing substance is placed on the skin and then the skin is pricked or scratched to allow the allergen to enter the skin. If the skin develops a red, raised wheal it usually means that the person is allergic to that allergen.
