Definition:
A disorder of neuromuscular transmission characterized by weakness of cranial and skeletal muscles. Autoantibodies directed against acetylcholine receptors damage the motor endplate portion of the neuromuscular junction, impairing the transmission of impulses to skeletal muscles.
