Definition:
A light spongy cake made out of flour, egg whites, sugar and other ingredients. The mixture of egg whites and sugar is beaten until it is stiff; cream of tartar may be added to the mixture as a whipping agent. After the mixture is stiff, flour is gently added to it, mixed and poured into a baking pan for baking.
