A type of plains community characterized by a mosaic of vegetation ranging from tropical broadleaf woodlands to scrublands to savannas, with a pronounced dry season. The second largest of Brazil's major biomes (after Amazonia), it spreads across the central plateau and comprises 21% of Brazil's land area.
