Definition:
The processes and results of contact between two or more different cultures. Generally, acculturation brings about considerable diffusion of cultural traits in one or more directions. However, other change-processes also occur, such as development of new intercultural roles, the growth of new customs not found in either culture and the disintegration of older cultural forms.
