Definition:
Polipéptido de ADP ribosilación, producido por el bacilo Corynebacterium diphtheriae, que causa los síntomas de la difteria. Se puede dividir en dos dominios desiguales: el más pequeño, el dominio catalítico A, que constituye la porción letal y contiene mono (ADP ribosa) transferasas, transfiere la ADP ribosa al factor 2 de elongación peptídica, inhibiendo la síntesis proteica; el más grande, el dominio B, es necesario para entrar en las células.
