Definition:
Neuronas fotosensibles aferentes, ubicadas principalmente dentro de la fóvea central de la mácula lútea. Hay tres tipos principales de células conos (rojo, azul y verde) con fotopigmentos de diferentes curvas de sensibilidad espectral. Las células del cono retiniano operan en la visión diurna (a intensidad fotópica) proporcionando el reconocimiento de colores y la agudeza visual central.
