Welcome to the Silvics of North America Glossary, an online vocabulary tool of 306 terms related to silviculture.

The glossary is part of the larger work, Silvics of North America, which describes the silvicultural characteristics of about 200 conifer and hardwood trees in the United States, Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico. Published by the Forest Service, USDA, it serves as a useful reference and teaching tool for researchers, educators, and practicing foresters both within the United States and abroad.
